Local Place Plan

Exciting Steps Forward for The Cabrach: Shaping Our Future Together!

We’re thrilled to share the latest update on The Cabrach Local Place Plan (LPP) for 2024-2029! Spearheaded by The Cabrach Trust, this bold initiative marks an important step toward the regeneration of our beautiful area in Moray, North East Scotland. By actively listening to our community and drawing on the strengths of our natural and cultural heritage, we’re crafting a vision of a thriving, sustainable future for everyone in The Cabrach.

The LPP is more than just a roadmap; it’s a shared vision to build an economically and culturally vibrant Cabrach, where people feel connected to the land, history, and each other. Our mission is clear: foster growth, community well-being, and make sure everyone—regardless of age, background, or ability—feels included and empowered to contribute to our collective future.

A Vision Driven by Values

Our Local Place Plan is built on core values that we all hold dear: inclusivity, collaboration, entrepreneurial diversity, and sustainability. It’s also aligned with the just transition to net zero, ensuring that we grow in ways that protect our environment while enhancing opportunities for current and future generations.

Listening to Our Community

Since May, we’ve connected with 185 people from all walks of life to shape this plan. Through community consultations, events, surveys, and engaging drop-in sessions, we’ve ensured that everyone has had the opportunity to share their ideas and priorities. Our process has been transparent and collaborative, involving not just residents but also key stakeholders and local organizations.

We’ve heard from young people at a fun pizza night, shared ideas over BBQs, and collected feedback on community comment boards. Surveys were completed by a range of people, representing the views of over 60 residents. Together, we’ve identified the most important themes for our area, from housing and employment to recreation, tourism, and heritage.

Priorities for the Future

Based on your feedback, we’ve identified four key themes that will drive our actions over the next five years:

Theme 1: An Enterprising Place
We envision a dynamic local economy with diverse businesses, innovative visitor experiences, and opportunities for growth.

Theme 2: A Skilled Place
Our people will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world, with access to education and training that supports local industries and employment.

Theme 3: A Beautiful and Safe Place
We will care for our stunning natural environment, making it accessible for all, enhancing biodiversity, and transitioning to net zero for a sustainable future.

Theme 4: A Place to Live
The Cabrach will offer modern, accessible housing and excellent facilities that bring people together. Whether it’s a gathering space for community events or essential services, we’ll ensure that our area is a welcoming place for people of all ages and backgrounds.
