The spiritual home of our Rural Skills and Wellbeing programme is the Trust’s painstakingly restored “Old Smiddy” farm building. Following restoration of this important asset, supported with funding from Inspiring Scotland and Foundation Scotland, this much-loved building now serves as our rural skills hub providing practical shelter and a rendezvous point for those accessing rural skills training or wellbeing events at Inverharroch.
This project forms a critical part of the Trust’s community building endeavours. Most weekends have workshops or events planned, covering an eclectic mix of topics ranging from willow basket weaving to long distance walks to dry stone dyking. The majority of attendees are drawn from the Trust’s membership area, but attendees from further afield regularly travel to enjoy these activities and the Cabrach’s beautiful surrounds.
A further important part of this project is focused on cultivating and strengthening school links as we maximise learning opportunities for young people from across the North East.
