During this one day, experimental workshop, explore lino-cut printing using the reduction method (also known as lost-lino) and without using a press.

Techniques include designing then transferring your design onto the lino block, cutting, proof printing and make a small series of 2 – 3 colour prints. All materials are provided including a mount for your final artwork.

This hands-on workshop with tutor, Morag Tweedie, is suitable for complete beginners as well as for those with some experience.

Due to secured funding from Dorenell Community Windfarm Fund we are able to offer this workshop at a reduced cost to all, with a significant reduction for the local community including Cabrach, Lumsden, Rhynie, Glass and Dufftown.

The workshop will be held in the Acorn Centre at Inverharroch.  Tea and coffee will be provided.  Please bring your lunch with you.

About Morag Tweedie

Morag Tweedie is a mixed-media and textile artist who explores meanings, memory, losing and rediscovery, taking inspiration from the landscape, the weather as well as buildings, plants and bird life in Scotland and beyond. Using a range of media, printing, drawing and stitch on paper and fabric, images are built to create a rich and decorative surface. Recurring motifs such as a glove or shards of pottery are evident within many pieces.

Trained in Printed Textiles at Glasgow School of Art, Morag continued to work as a textile designer based in London until moving to Orkney in 1980. For the last 16 years she worked, as a tutor and latterly as Curriculum Leader in Art and Design at Orkney College. In August 2013 she left this work and is now working as a full-time artist as well as undertaking two periods of design consultation in Lesotho, Southern Africa and attending Arts Festivals in Scotland. This October (2016) Morag relocated to the Highland village of Dufftown with plans to build a new studio to continue her work as well as a base for small workshop sessions in textiles and mixed media.
