“Inspired By” The Cabrach

Post-Event Blog: A Community Inspired – Reflecting on “Inspired by The Cabrach”

From Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th June, something special took place at Inverharroch Farm. Over four days, visitors and community members came together to celebrate a place that continues to spark creativity and connection, The Cabrach.

“Inspired by The Cabrach” was more than an exhibition. It was a tribute to the enduring character and spirit of The Cabrach, told through the creativity of our community of artists, makers, and storytellers who have drawn inspiration from the wild landscape, history, and people of this place.

Set across two distinct spaces – our North Steading and The Acorn – the exhibition brought together a powerful collection of projects and works including Cabrach Reconnections, Connecting The Cabrach, The Cabrach Tapestry, Cutting Through, Cabrach Tweed, and Cabrach Lives. These exhibitions weren’t just about looking back, they were about reconnecting, reimagining, and celebrating the many ways in which The Cabrach has shaped our community.

Our Preview Night offered a warm welcome to both Members of The Cabrach Trust and Members of The Cabrach Collective. This was a moment that unveiled the culmination of last 3 years of cross-community collaboration, enjoyed with a dram or two of The Feering. From Friday to Sunday, doors were opened to the wider public and what followed was a steady stream of visitors, reflective conversations, and memories shared.

A particular highlight was the visit from pupils of Lumsden Primary School. Guided through the exhibitions, their enthusiasm and imagination was brought to life as they created and contributed their own artwork, offering a reminder that The Cabrach’s legacy is not only to be remembered, but will be continually reinterpreted by new generations.

And then there was the feedback—uplifting, moving, and always appreciated:

“So many inspirational pieces and lovely to hear the stories behind them.”
“Such a beautifully inspiring display of community art and spirit.”
“Special space, special people, special exhibition.”
“Utterly inspiring and engaging. Thank you.”

Each of these comments are testament to the time, care, and passion poured into this event by the community, the artists, and everyone behind the scenes.

To all who visited, supported, created, or simply shared a memory over a cup of tea—thank you. Your presence made this exhibition what it was: a living, breathing expression creativity and connection inspired by The Cabrach.

This event showed us the power of coming together to celebrate our community’s heritage and to imagine this community’s future. Here’s to more art, more stories, and more moments that remind us of the beauty and strength of this remarkable place we call home.
