Dufftown Health Walk in The Cabrach

Date

Tuesday 22nd February

Time

10:00am - 12:30pm

Venue

Join the Dufftown Health Walkers for a walk in the Cabrach along the Discovery Trails followed by a cuppa and cake in the Acorn Centre.

The Dufftown Health Walk meets every Tuesday at 10am at the Clocktower in Dufftown.  The walk is led by Sam, Development Manager at The Cabrach Trust and Stephen Reeves, Dorenell EDF Ranger in the Cabrach.  Free return transport from Dufftown.

A mini coach will pick up walkers in Dufftown at 10.00am arriving in the Cabrach around 10.15am, meeting other walkers at the Acorn Centre.  Following a gentle walk around the new Discovery Trails at Inverharroch there will be refreshments in the Acorn Centre and a chance to have a blether to others from the local community.

Stephen, EDF Ranger will provide a guided walk, talking about the flora, forna and nature conservation in the Cabrach.

The mini coach will then pick up and return to Dufftown at 12.30pm.

If you are from the Cabrach or in the local community we will meet at the Acorn Centre where there is plenty of parking if necessary.

Numbers for the mini coach are limited so please let Sam know by email if you would like a place on the bus – sam.dowdall@cabrachtrust.org

Health Walks are free for anyone to come along and the mini coach is fully funded for the community benefit.

A bit about Health Walks

Health Walks are a supportive and welcoming way for you to start to enjoy the many benefits of being physically active

Paths for All  support a network of community Health Walk projects all over Scotland that organise free group walks every week, and are always looking for new walkers.

A Health Walk:

  • is led by a trained volunteer on a risk assessed route
  • is less than an hour long
  • has a short warm up at the start, followed by a brisk walk and then a short cool down at the end
  • welcomes new walkers who would benefit from being more active
  • is a friendly group walk offered regularly
  • is an opportunity to meet new people in your area and explore places you might not have been before

Health Walks are aimed at inactive people who would benefit most from doing more physical activity or those that just want to get active and meet new people.

Health walkers can enjoy a whole range of benefits including increased fitness, improved mood and increased social interactions with local people and the local area. Walking requires no special equipment or expense and is the ideal way for most people to become more active.

Paths for All supports Health Walks across Scotland by providing training, funding, resources and guidance to Health Walk projects.

The Cabrach Winter Festival: A Season of Creativity and Connection
