Volunteering Opportunities For Everyone
Anyone who has ever spent a day in the outdoors clearing scrub, helping build a boardwalk or planting trees and wildflowers will know and understand the immense sense of satisfaction you get from being part of a volunteer initiative. Even the tea and cakes taste infinitely better when enjoyed with members of a volunteer work party.
People volunteer for so many reasons. To contribute to their community, to learn new skills, to get involved in an issue that is important to them, to increase social interactions or to get more exercise. And you do not need to be skilled or experienced at any one particular thing either.
Volunteering can provide a very positive experience. The health benefits alone, both physical and mental wellbeing, are most often cited across all age groups. Participating in volunteering opportunities can improve job prospects, quality of life, and provide rich learning for all generations. It increases confidence, builds resilience, and helps combat stress.
There is a lot going on at The Cabrach Trust right now, and in the years to come. We are very excited about the potential this brings and the wide range of projects that are suited to all ages and abilities. We will also be working in partnership with the EDF Dorenell Rangers, which means we have many fun and rewarding opportunities for you to get involved in.
Training will always be given on any project and you will always have a point of contact or team leader. There will also be opportunities to train and learn new skills.
Here are just a few of the volunteering activities that will be coming up very soon:
- Site preparation for The Cabrach Discovery Trails – Clearing old fences and making way for new pathways, planting and fencing.
- Preparing the site for the wildlife pond and wildflower meadow.
- Sowing the wildflower meadow.
- Building a drystone wall at the Memorial Cairn.
- Tree planting.
- Gardening.
- Checking footpaths and way markers.
- Preparing butterfly and moth surveys.
So, if you would like to find out more about the many volunteer roles on offer and get involved then fill out the volunteer contact form and we will get back to you.
