🌿 The countdown is on! Today we're busy preparing the Walled Garden to welcome our community and visitors from near and far for The Cabrach Picnic & Games this Sunday 26th July.
This is one of our favourite days of the year, a chance to come together, celebrate our community and enjoy a fantastic day out in the heart of The Cabrach.

There's something for everyone, including:
🎶 Huntly Pipe Band
💃 Alison Gordon School of Dance
🏃‍♀️ Children's "Have a Go" Highland Games
💪 Tug of War
🏆 The annual Rose Bowl competition

Families can also head over to the Wildflower Meadow, where the EDF Dorenell Rangers will be running fun, hands-on activities throughout the day.

Feeling hungry? We've got you covered with a delicious hog roast, picnic lunches, teas, coffees and plenty of homemade cakes.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit The Cabrach Tapestry, on display in The Acorn Centre, our remarkable community project celebrating our culture, history and heritage.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Glennie, Gordon Highlanders veteran and the last surviving D-Day veteran, at the remarkable age of 100.

It was a true honour to welcome Jim to contribute a few stitches to the Cabrach Tapestry. His participation became a small but meaningful part of the tapestry's story, and we are incredibly proud that his legacy will forever be woven into this unique community project.

Our thoughts are with Jim's family and friends as they celebrate a life of extraordinary courage, service and dedication.

It’s hard to believe tomorrow is our last day at the Scone Game Fair!

What an incredible few days it has been. As our first major public event exhibiting together, The Cabrach Trust and Cabrach Distillery have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people, sharing conversations about our community, our heritage, and our ambitious vision for rural regeneration.

It’s been fantastic to tell the story of how the Distillery and the Trust work hand in hand, demonstrating how a community-owned enterprise can help create jobs, attract visitors, safeguard our heritage, and provide long-term sustainability for our remote communities.

A huge thank you to everyone who has stopped by to chat, ask questions, and show such genuine interest and support. Your encouragement reminds us that our story resonates far beyond The Cabrach.

If you’re visiting the Game Fair tomorrow, there’s still time to come and see us. You’ll find us on Osprey Row, Stand O55. We’d love to meet you and share how a small community with a big vision is building a sustainable future.

We’re excited to be at the Scone Game Fair over the next three days, where The Cabrach Trust and Cabrach Distillery will be exhibiting together at our first major public event.

This is a significant milestone for us both and a fantastic opportunity to share the story of The Cabrach, how heritage, community, and enterprise can work hand in hand to create a sustainable future for a rural place.
Come and meet the team to discover how rural regeneration is transforming our community, why sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do, and how the Distillery is helping to provide long-term economic security, creating jobs, attracting visitors, and supporting the future of one of Scotland’s most remote communities.

A special day yesterday at the Palace of Holyroodh

A special day yesterday at the Palace of Holyroodhouse Garden Party with our travelling party from The Cabrach Trust.

Many thanks to the Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire for the invitation. It was a privilege to attend and to spend the afternoon catching up with so many familiar faces from across the North East and Scotland.

The Cabrach was represented by members of our community, Board and Team; a lovely reflection of the many people who contribute to the regeneration of The Cabrach.

It was especially good to see Alison Milne BEM there too, following her recent recognition for services to Highland Dance. Such a well-deserved honour.

Last night, beneath the warm Cabrach rain, participants on our Summer Solstice Storytelling Walk along the Discovery Trail were treated to a truly magical evening of stories and connection.

As we journeyed from the Smiddy to the wildflower meadow and onwards to the nature hide, we were captivated by the beautiful storytelling of Nana Tomova. Through stories inspired by the land, wildflowers and herbal plants around us, we were invited to see the landscape through fresh eyes. Along the way, we also discovered some fascinating facts about the healing properties and folklore of nettles and comfrey.

Despite the rain never quite letting up, time seemed to pass in an instant. The evening concluded back at the Smiddy, gathered around the fire, where beautiful poetry provided the perfect ending to a memorable solstice celebration.

A huge thank you to Nana for sharing her stories, and to everyone who joined us. It was another wonderful community evening in The Cabrach, celebrating nature, heritage, storytelling and the simple joy of coming together.

Tomorrow, Sunday 14th June, from 11am–4pm, we’d love to welcome you to The Acorn, Inverharroch, for a special day of memories, conversation, and community.

Come along to meet The Cabrach Trust team, hear about our exciting plans for the future, and share your own stories, photographs, memories, and connections to this remarkable place.

Over the years, we have been building the Cabrach Lives Archive, a growing collection celebrating the people, heritage, history, and traditions of The Cabrach. The archive will be available to browse throughout the day, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives and stories that have shaped our community.

Whether you have a lifetime of memories to share or simply want to learn more about The Cabrach, everyone is welcome.

And of course, there will be plenty of tea, friendly conversation, and a fine selection of homemade cakes waiting for you! ☕🍰
